UNESCO, in collaboration with the International Association of Universities (IAU), has announced the launch of an international online lecture series on Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education. The series will run from September 11, 2025, through March 2026, bringing together leading global experts to examine how AI is reshaping knowledge, pedagogy, and the future role of universities.
First Lecture: AI, Cognition, and Human Pedagogy
The opening session will take place on September 11, 2025, from 16:30 to 17:30 CET. It will feature Professor Duncan H. Pritchard of the University of California, who will present the talk:
“How Does AI Influence Human Cognition and Pedagogy?”
This lecture will set the stage for a broad academic dialogue on the intersections between artificial intelligence, critical thinking, and educational practices.
A Global Dialogue on AI and Higher Education
The series is designed to foster international reflection on the challenges and opportunities posed by AI for teaching and learning. Topics will address how higher education institutions can adapt and innovate in response to rapid technological changes while safeguarding the cultivation of critical and ethical reasoning.
Accessibility and Participation
All sessions will be delivered in English and French, with simultaneous interpretation services available to ensure broad access.
