Space Command HQ Set To Land At Huntsville, Alabama

Huntsville, Alabama – Alabama’s most northern and significant city for federal contractors is now set to receive the Space Command. While all military unites have an HQ at the Pentagon, the Space Command associated with the Space Command is a select coordination group that allows for defense contractors to provide services to the government.

The Space Force command will relocate its HQ from Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is now taking place after much debate and delay over a viability report that actually made the North Alabama city the top choice. The report was left unactioned after Biden’s departure from office. So, it appears that it is not just politics at play here since there is a Space Force memorandum of viability being higher in the region than in Colorado.

The move was announced in the afternoon this Tuesday by President Donald Trump. The memorandum is ‘Space Force HQ Announcement’ per official announcements.

Some Controversy

President Trump in one swoop appears to have added 30000 jobs to Huntsville, Alabama

In political circles, there is speculation that the state of Alabama is set to receive this move as a reward for the local population’s support of Trump. The irony, of course, is that Huntsville is one of the purple cities in the region, largely due to the SES scores for locals. Reuters reports: “The move appears to reward a state that overwhelmingly supported President Donald Trump‘s three Republican presidential bids, at the expense of one that opposed them, although the administration has not provided a reason for the move.”

Online commentators were quick to make a state-to-state comparisons.

Indeed, Alabama is ranked much lower relative to Colorado where Space Command was being held. However, the most relevant comparison is really at the city-to-city level. Huntsville is already a city that the Space Command and Pentagon had identified as the correct city for the logistical needs of the endeavor.

A feasibility study executed during the presidential term of Joe Biden actually noted that the city of Huntsville was better suited for the goals, citing costs. The nearby Redstone Arsenal Army base was ideal for the tasks too, with an abundant number of security cleared personnel ready and willing to supplement the command’s needs.
